Not too long ago, many people believed that body detox was only used to help those dependent on alcohol and drugs to overcome their addiction. It’s still true, detoxification is still used for these purposes; however, many are now using body detox as a method to enhance their health. When choosing a detox diet plan, it is important to remember the main goal of embarking on a body detox. That goal is to drive out harmful toxins from your body. Even if you do not use drugs or drink, there are still many ways for these toxins and chemicals to enter your body. In fact, recent studies have indicated that there is a high dosage of unnatural toxics in most of our drinking water.

Since the main goal of a body detox is to purify your body from these toxins, it is important to eat a healthy diet. First, be mindful of the potentially harmful food and drinks you consume daily. Do you drink coffee or soda daily? If so, caffeine is okay, but only in moderation. At the same time, caffeine is not something our bodies need. In addition to being addicted to caffeine, many coffee and soda drinkers crave for the taste. This is common when flavored soda or coffee is consumed. To ease the transition, consume all-natural juice. If you have a juicer, you could easily make your own all-natural juice. Yes, pure water is the best, but if you find your taste buds craving something with flavor, juice may be a good substitute.

To get rid of toxins from the body, they must be expelled. That is why foods that are high in fiber are excellent. A diet that is high in fiber can help regulate your digestive system and stimulate bowel movement. Essentially, this means that you will make regular, although not excessive, trips to the toilet. In addition to fiber, drink at least eight glasses of water to ease passing of stools that carry along with them the toxins we try to eliminate.

As previously mentioned, many of the food we eat are laden with chemicals and additives. Although small in quantity and generally safe, these are things our bodies are not used to and do not need to survive. That is why a body detox diet calls for the elimination of them. One of the best methods to detox your body with a detox diet is to avoid food that contain these additives and preservatives and contaminated with pesticides. Many detox diet plans advocate eating plenty of organic food.

Organic foods are a great way to detox your body, but what if you don’t have a lot to spend? As we all know, organic foods cost a lot more. Check out your local grocery stores or health food stores. In addition to boxed or bottled organic foods, such as cereals or jam, don’t forget fruits and vegetables. You may find their prices to be lower.

As for the duration of a body detox diet, you will find some differences. Some diet programs last as short as three days, while others can go up to two weeks or more. In most cases, a week to ten days is a good duration, but you will want to listen to your body. If a detox diet is too much for your body to handle, listen to the warning signs your body gives out and start incorporating your “traditional” food back into your diet.

Your lifestyle changes. As you can see, it is possible to lose weight with a body detox or cleanse. With that said, your weight can return just as easily as you lost it. When you start adding solid foods into your diet, you will automatically start to gain weight. You can, however, make healthy choices. By eliminating foods high in sugar, fats, and calories, or by making the switch to organic, you can maintain a healthy weight for years to come.

You can lose weight on a detox diet, but your results will vary. The main goal of a detox diet should be to improve your overall health and wellbeing. If you are solely interested in losing weight, this approach is not right for you. Remember, your weight loss may be significant, but it will only be temporary. There is not always an underlining reason why people get sick, feel fatigued and bogged down. However, the answer can be quite simple. Not to mention, a remedy can be as simple as a full body detox. There can be an unnecessary strain on your bowels as well as your kidneys. Many times people will quit because they feel too weak and/or sick. Then of course, your body can also be thrown out of balance as well. Your electrolytes, vitamins, and minerals will all be all out of whack.

There also comes the responsibility of educating those who go on these detox quick fixes. You should know the best diet after the detox, so you won’t go back to the same eating habits.
